Pro Shop Retail Salesperson

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt 

In keeping with the mission and values of Big Thunder Marine, and the pledge to maintain our presence as the premier watersport’s equipment supplier at the Lake of the Ozarks, the Pro Shop Retail Salesperson will ensure the continued growth and success of our company by serving as the primary retail resource for our clients. At all times, our Pro Shop Retail Salesperson will strive to enhance our customer experience and create lasting relationships with our clients. Pro Shop Specialists will greet and assist customers with finding items, answering pro shop related sales questions, educating customers on our products/merchandise, and selling merchandise.

Essential Functions Statement(s) 

• Interact with current and prospective clients (walk ins) to learn their needs and identify products and/or services to fill that need. Employee should be confident and competent in the basic uses for the products we sell so they can convey that knowledge to potential customer.

• Familiarize yourself with our product vendors, products, and their differences.

• Demonstrates and explains merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customer’s needs.

• Answers customer’s questions about merchandise.

• Assists customers with purchase decisions.

• Retrieves merchandise from sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations, places special orders.

• Collects payment using the store point of sale system.

• Processes returns and exchanges.

• Can accurately count forms of payment/money (basic math skills).

• Helps maintain order and cleanliness of showroom(s), retail racks, displays

• Can fully complete a task with initial direction from Retail Manager or Assistant Manager.

• Answering, greeting, and transferring customer phone calls within company phone system.

• Able to work on weekends & holidays (mainly summer holidays).

• Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Retail Management, Merchandising or Marketing Degrees are preferred.

Experience: 3-5 years’ retail experience. Some watersports and or retail experience preferred.

Computer Skills: General computer skills and software experience required, will train on specific systems.

Certifications & Licenses: No specific licensure required.    

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Open showroom environment with moderate noise level when working indoors. Noise level may increase substantially upon interaction with watercraft being moved in or out of showrooms as well as on product demonstrations and special events.
